For everyone

The trucking vocabulary 360Loads uses. These are general industry terms, defined here so the app's screens read easily — not statements about how any specific company operates.

Route types

• OTR — over the road: long-haul, out for extended stretches.
• Regional — a multi-state region, home more often than OTR.
• Local — daily routes, home nightly.
• Dedicated — a fixed customer or account, predictable lanes.

Equipment

• Dry van — the standard enclosed trailer.
• Reefer — refrigerated trailer for cold freight.
• Flatbed — open deck for oversized or oddly shaped loads.
• Tanker — liquids and gases; usually needs the N endorsement.
• Step deck — a flatbed with a lowered deck for taller cargo.
• Box truck — a straight truck, cab and cargo box in one.
• Auto hauler — vehicle transport.
• Intermodal — containers moving between rail and road.

Credentials

• CDL Class A/B/C — commercial driver's license classes; Class A covers combination vehicles like tractor-trailers.
• Endorsements — extra qualifications on a CDL: H (hazmat), N (tanker), T (doubles/triples), X (tanker + hazmat).
• DOT number / MC number — a carrier's federal registration numbers, public in the FMCSA registry.

Ways of working

• Owner operator — drives their own truck. As the profile builder puts it: "Owner operator — your truck. Company driver — you drive theirs."
• Solo / Team — one driver, or two sharing the truck.
• Home time — how often the schedule brings you home: home daily, home weekly, home every 2 weeks, out 3+ weeks, or flexible.
• Drop-and-hook — swapping trailers instead of waiting through live loading.

• Introduction — the mutual yes that opens messaging between a professional and a company.
• Discovery — whether verified companies can find your profile in search.
• Opportunity — a role a company publishes; drivers see it as a job listing.
• World — one working life's view of the app; the account switcher moves between them.
